Hello again,

I'm happy to report that I am at the process of paying fees (have everything _almost_ ready). I am sponsoring my wife for PR.

From what I understood, I had to pay 2 fees: a $75 fee for me to sponsor, and $450 for her to apply. I did that, and got a single receipt. The receipt, however, does not specify what it is for. Is this normal/OK? I assume they'll know from the bar code what was paid?

Thanks

The fee for the applicant was $475, not $450, so unless CIC has lowered the price, you'll need to send them another $25

Good luck!

As long as you paid enough in total, you will not have a problem. The total fee you should have paid is $1,040 which is the sponsorship + applicant fees for a complete PR package, unless you opt to pay the application fee at a later date which I heard can delay things slightly.

Just to clarify; You can pay the RPRF ($490) later, but you must pay the application fees ($75 + $475) upfront.

That is correct.

The fees that must be paid up front are:
Sponsorship application (per application): $75
Principal applicant: $475

The "Getting your permanent resident status" fee is $490 and can be paid up front with the other fees, or they will request it later (but can delay processing and cause requeuing).

If you want the smoothest processing time, you should pay all three fees up front (if affordable), or you can pay the RPRF fee when they request it later.

Hi all,

Its incredible how fast replies come in!

I mistyped, I did pay $475 + 75 = $550.

If for whatever reason the PR is rejected, I'd get the $490 PR fee back, right?

Thanks

If the sponsorship is denied, then yes, you will get the $490 back depending on your application selection of ending the PR process, or continuing it (and allowing you to appeal the sponsorship deny decision while the PR is processed).

If the PR is denied, then you are out the entire $1040 (and they will request the last $490 before processing starts / eCas showing in-process).
