Hello!
I'm a content writer by profession and planned to explore Canada while studying. I applied for The Writer's Studio program at SFU for the September intake this year. I got through the university, but the visa application was rejected. The reasons were that my employment history and the program I chose didn't match (Planned to study fiction and poetry which was not part of my profession); the case office was not convinced that I would leave Canada after I complete the program; and the fact that this program was a non-credit part-time course.
I've now been accepted at Vancouver Film School for the January intake next year. the program I chose is writing for film and television (full-time diploma). I've written a couple of scripts as a part of my profession and enjoy doing the same. I have also graduated from a post-graduate mass communication course which taught me the basics of film making and screen writing. I intend to tweak my CV according to this experience, and include reference letters from my professors who taught me writing and film within my visa application.
All my paper work is almost done, but I'm not certain that my application will be accepted since I'm applying within six months of being previously rejected.
Please let me know if there is anything else I should be doing for my visa to get accepted this time around.
Regards,
Shvetha
