Reapply for a TRV before it expires

Hello,

My mother has a multiple-entry Canada visa, valid until October 2017, but it is in her older passport. She got a new passport (without no visa stamped in it)

She is planning to come to Canada in June 2017. Can she come to Canada with her new passport + valid visa in her expired passport. How long before a visa expires, one can enter Canada ? is it 6 months or you can enter even 1 day before your visa expires ?

Will our request to apply for a new visa be denied because it's now March, and her visa expires in October (7 months apart) ?

She must travel with both passports i.e. the one with the valid TRV + the new passport

She can travel to Canada/enter anytime during the validity of her current TRV. How long she can remain in Canada would depend on the CBSA officer at the POE

Yes, the chances of a refusal are possible because she would be applying many months in advance before her current TRV expires
