I am Canadian citizen (with OCI) getting married in Nov 2026 to Indian Citizen, she has visiting Canada visa expiring in July 2027, back then she got her visa for her brother's graduation,
I will be applying sponsorship in Dec 2026, and planning to bring her in Apr 2027, please share your expertise

1. Can she travel in Apr as her visa is expiring in July as the visa expiration is less than 6 months
2. if she comes here, can i apply for Spousal Work permit immediately she arrives
   
   I really appreciate if you can spend few mins for your valuable suggestions

1. Like any visitor her entry is always dependent on interview at the border. There is no 6 month rule for visitor trying to visit Canada.
2. If the spousal sponsorship had received AOR can apply for OWP once in Canada.

1.she got visa back in 2023, if she comes when her visa is about to expire, will there be any flags. but she still have valid reason to stay with em
2. since there is no rule as you mentioned, Can she come to Canada with visiting visa in Apr and then can we apply immediately for OWP since her application will be Outland

A TRV never guarantees you entry to a country so yes she can travel to Canada in April and she will be assessed at the border. She should also verify with the airline whether she needs a return ticket to fly. She should not lie when she reaches the border if she doesn’t plan to visit her brother.

Thanks for replying, I spoke to her, she had a plan to visit for his brother graduation in 2023 but due to various reasons, she cancelled her plans to visit. since the visa is still valid, we wanted to use this opportunity to bring her Canada once spousal AOR is received and apply for OWP after she lands

2. Also, one thing i need to add is her passport is expiring Jul 2027 and that is the reason she got visa stamp untill then, now she is renewing her passport now, is this going to impact her travel?

1. Once you have a valid TRV the reason for your visit is assessed at every entry. Yes she can use her existing TRV to try to enter Canada and if she has received AOR then she would qualify to apply for an OWP. If asked I would be honest that the aim for her visit is to reunite with her spouse and apply for an OWP. That said she is entering Canada as a visitor so should not appear as she is moving to Canada with all of her belongings. She should check with the airline to see if she needs proof of a return ticket to fly with them. Many airlines require proof of a return ticket because of refused the airline has to pay for you to return home. If proof of a return ticket is required buy one that is refundable.

2. She should ensure that her passport is returned to her with that includes the TRV. She should travel with her old and new passport. Renewing her passport doesn’t impact the validity of the TRV that is in her old passport.

also, when you say proof of return ticket, does it mean on the same day or next day of landing or ticket after few months, just the want to get more clarification on this
