This has been discussed ssssssssssoooooooooo many times. Request you to pls search at least once as information is already available.
I have myself answered it so many times.
Anyway, you have a number of options for POF:
i. Convert and bring CAD cash: Too risky, a lot of hassle with exchange agents etc, plus illegal as India does not allow carrying so much foreign currency in flight.
ii. Travelers cheque: risk free and legal. But a bit of hassle as you need to procure it in India and then encash here.
iii. Prepaid cards: Legal and safe. Also you have a working ATM cum debit card from the very first moment in Canada. However, banks normally charge 1-2 dollars for each withdrawal.
iv. Open a Canadian bank account from India: Kotak Mahindra can help you open an account in Scotia Bank while you are still in India. You can deposit all your cash in that account and get a proof of funds statement. Once you are in Canada, go to Scotia Bank branch and simply activate your account for daily use. This way you have a fully functional Canadian account from day 1.
v. In case you bank provides you an International Debit cum ATM card, do nothing. Just go to your bank and ask them to give you a statement of funds letter. Ask them to sign and seal (stamp) it. They can address the letter to "Consulate General of Canada". At airport, when asked for POF, show this letter.

I used option 5 as my bank (Deutsche Bank) gives me an International Debit card on which there is no service fee for using ATMs of allied international banks. So once I reached here, I was easily withdrawing Canadian dollar from Scotia bank ATMs with no surcharge.

As per my knowledge you can travel on new passport as long you have old passport with VISA and COPR in hand so that shouldn't be problem.

But If I were you I won't make name change at this point as it can be done later on there as that can be little problematic but I am not 100% sure if someone went through same situation they can guide you better.

I hope this helps.

Thanks,

You will get medical received line in ECAS
Time to get PPR depends on visa office
People who did medical in May 2015 are still waiting for PPR request

Hi Diplomatru,

How are you. I am shahr yaar from Dubai.

I received MR in December and have completed already my Medicals in December and Medical Results Received line got updated in January in ECAS.

But still I have not received RPRF and Updated Schedule-A request or PCC request. In fact they did not receive any document during 14-months and directly MR.

What could be the reason for no RPRF and no PCC, and no Schedule-A update as other ? It is now around two months+
Whether I shall get directly RPRF+PPR together? OR what will be the case? Should I request detailed report?

Whether my Eligibility is already passed or it's not?

"Under the Harper government, the citizenship application backlog had ballooned with processing time significantly lengthened. New resources were brought in last year to reduce the wait time.

McCallum said new citizenship applications are now processing in 12 months and the backlog is expected to be cleared by the end of this year.

You may carry say 3000 cad in cash with you.For balance you can get a dd from bank in your name. On arrival in canada ,you can open a bank account and deposit the dd in your account. This is whai I did.

Hi,

Eligibility is passed before medicals are issued, but they can review it any time. Every office has its own way of proceeding with document request. You shouldn't worry about it. Just wait for your turn. Good luck.
