Hey guys :)

Congrats for all of you who received good news this week....it felt like this week was full of progress

I wanted to share something...I know it has nothing to do with the topic, but I've always felt like everyone's a family here :D

I watched this movie yesterday about an Indian immigrant to Canada....the movie should be quit interesting for us immigrants :p

Many here might even relate to it more than me cuz am not Indian....but I loved it ;D

This is a link of it's trailer:

I'm afraid, you're wrong. Immigration officer upon your landing can ask you to show PoF and refuse your entry without PoF with adverse consequences.

Here is a section from "Prepare for your arrival in Canada page in CIC website. (Source: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/arrival.asp)

If you are outside Canada

When you arrive in Canada, you will be greeted by an officer from the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).

The officer will ask to see your passport and other travel documents. Make sure they are not packed in your luggage, and that you have them with you. This will help speed up your entry to Canada.

When you arrive, you must have:

your valid passport and/or travel documents. Your passport must be a regular, private citizen passport. You cannot immigrate to Canada with a diplomatic, government service or public affairs passport.

your Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) and/or your permanent resident visa. The officer will make sure you are entering Canada before or on the expiry date shown on your COPR. Please note that we cannot extend this document, so you should make sure to use it before it expires.

proof that you have the funds to support yourself and your family after you arrive in Canada.

The officer will ask you a few questions to make sure you still meet the terms to immigrate to Canada. They will be similar to the ones you answered when you applied. This should only take a few minutes.

You will not be allowed into Canada if you:

give false or incomplete information, or
do not convince the officer that you meet the conditions to enter Canada.

If you are not inadmissible and there are no problems when you arrive, the officer will allow you to enter Canada as a permanent resident. The officer will also confirm your Canadian mailing address. Your permanent resident card will be mailed to you at this address.

Hi Jaxon911,

According to the CIC website, it is mentioned

Disclosure of funds

If you arrive in Canada with more than CAN$10,000, you must tell this to the CBSA officer. If you do not tell them, you could be fined or put in prison. These funds could be in the form of:
•cash,
•securities in bearer form (for example, stocks, bonds, debentures, treasury bills), or
•bankers’ drafts, cheques, travellers’ cheques or money orders.

This means we only have to declare if we are carrying more than $10,000. If we are carrying less than that, there is no need to tell that to the officer.

Correct me if I am wrong

Thanks Jaxon911...

I agree, we do have to carry funds to support ourselves but does it mean they will not allow Indian bank statements/ATM (Debit) cards issues by Indian banks. In the same website they say These funds could be in the form of:

1. cash,
2. securities in bearer form (for example, stocks, bonds, debentures, treasury bills), or
3. bankers' drafts, cheques, travellers' cheques or money orders.

can't we use the funds in our Indian bank and withdraw them when ever requested in Canada? These are my funds and I have complete right to withdraw them (No Loan from anywhere).

I reason I would like to leave them in Indian bank is that the interest rate that we get in Indian banks is higher than that we get in Canada. My money will be growing in a faster.

If you are talking about India PCC then it should not take more than a day to receive. Fill up the form online, pay fee, take printout and go directly to passport seva kendra along with original passport.

But if it is FBI PCC then it will take roughly 4.5 months in getting PCC.

This is the CIC link which says on arrival you need to disclose proof of funds.

But MDV,

The site says, "If you have more than 10,000, you need to declare". If we don't have more than 10,000 why should we declare. As an example, I would like to land in Canada and stay for a maximum period of 2 months during which I get my PR card and return to India. If I take 5000 which would be sufficient for me during my stay in Canada, why would I need to declare to the officer

Hi Everyone,

Has someone completed medicals from Max Hospital (New Delhi or any other branch)?

I ask this because I recently completed my medicals from Max and they issued me 2 receipts, one was for Canada Immigration and another receipt (of Rs. 150) was for "registration charges" I believe they charged this Rs. 150 since I was a first time visitor to Max.

The question is: do I need to send both these receipts to WVO?

Cheers,
LazyBoy

Yes, I did from MAX itself. I send both of them. Make sure you take photocopies before you send them, just for proof purpose!!

Hi Team,

Hope you are doing well.

I changed my job last month. Do you think I should update LVO rightaway? The thing is my current HR manager is on annual leave and will be back next week. Also, I am still awaiting all documents from my previous company.

Do you think it will affect my application if I update LVO?

Regards,
Sarvesh
