Hi Friends,

Happy to see lots more ppl progressed to PPR...Congrats to all!!!

I received my GCMS Notes yesterday (recommend everybody to apply for the Notes once, possibly after DM to keep a memento :p of this Canada journey)

Some interesting observations which I found (note my VO is NDVO)->

1. I applied through visafile.info and they took 45 days to process the request... :mad:...Ultimately, it turned out perfect since I can see the status after DM but recommend ppl who urgently need the Notes, for say, preparing for interview, do NOT go through this site/ follow up continuously to make sure they apply for ur Notes on the same day u pay them

2. All Notes related to Security (like Check Date, Passed Status, Update Date) remain whited-out...I must have passed the Security Check but they seem loath to let me know I passed it... :p..Maybe some Regulations of the Canadian Govt/Intelligence Agencies...

3. Before PER issuance only, CIC shared information with US (Partner-Country)...Looks like they don't proceed without an all-clear from America :)

4. Eligibility assesment (& selection) was done by 2 separate officers at CIC, then again at VO Level..In my Notes, all factors like Eligibility are written as 'Passed'; Security, Misrepresentation and HIRV are blank; and Final Check is 'Approved'

3. In NDVO, the file moved through the Departments like this-
Registry-> ECU-FRR->ECU-FRP->ECU-EDO.
An Officer in ECU-EDO requested for my MR on 17-Dec. Then the file moved to ECU-PA. An Officer in ECU-PA (possibly a Program Assistant) actually sent the MR on 2-Jan. In all, time taken 16 days :)

4. After Medicals were cleared as Passed (looks like a separate Department), ECU-EDO referred the file to ECU-RFV. They completed my Criminality Check in one day (Security Check entries are whited-out :))

5. After ECU-RFV where the final decision to Issue Visa and COPR is made, the file moves to a final department called ECU-Issued. There is apparently a PR Visa issuance Room. :p

6. I had claimed 3+ years of work-ex in my chosen NOC in all documents, but in Eligibility Selection they granted for only 1 year :eek:...I'm still trying to understand why they reduced the work-ex....Looks like I barely cleared the cut-off with 68 points (by God's grace)

Good luck to all :):)

Great Information buddy.
So from this it seems that the only thing left after 3rd line update is "Criminality Check" after which PPR is issued. All the other checks are done before Medical.

Hey Arkscan;

Your post must be titled "GCMS notes made easy"

Your suggestion is nice, "keep a momento"

So these ECUs, what do you reckon they are, just some codes in the system or different VISA officers?

+1 for your explanation
Hi frasiercrane,

Thank u..+1 reverted..:)

Yes ECU stands for Economy Class Unit...The unit that is responsible for processing Canadian Immigration Applications...ECU-FRR, ECU-EDO etc. are Departments within that Unit..looks like each Department has a separate responsibility...the file passes from Dept. to Dept. in sequential order...

The actual Visa Officer is designated with a code like NS05468..u will see multiple VO Codes within the Notes..All those Officers are looking through ur file at different points.. :)

This document gives the details of different levels of Officers and their Designations (thanks to adisu01- quote below)->

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/il/il3-eng.pdf

once the DVO review the file, then the file will be forwarded to team lead to review and then once the application is passed all reviews, it will then be sent to a program manager to review. Only the PM has the rights to approve

look at the designation and their roles below

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/il/il3-eng.pdf

So your files are pending for a PM review most likely. I see an update from a May applicant yesterday stating that his application was ready for visa from nov and it is just lying there

So luck also comes here. pray hard:)

Notice – Immigration measures in support of the Government's response to the earthquake in Nepal
Ottawa, April 27, 2015 – Canada's Citizenship and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander announced that, effective immediately, Canada will be prioritizing the processing of immigration applications already in progress on request from those who are significantly and personally affected by the earthquake in Nepal.

Requests from Nepalese citizens temporarily in Canada who need to extend their stay will be assessed in a compassionate and flexible manner.

In support of these measures, Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has set up a special email address and a dedicated phone line to respond to requests from applicants and their families.

We are assessing other regions and more information will be provided as the situation evolves.

Date of birth;
Type of application (student, worker, visitor, Permanent Residence in Canada);

hi arkscan,

thanks for posting this info about GCMS. honestly i was unaware that such a process exists. Kudos to the canadian govt for maintaining transparency in the entire process.

- the visafile.info is asking for 25 USD fees. is this the same process you are talking about ?
- is this a legal way to get GCMS ?
- will getting GCMS in any way interfere in my current/future prospects in canada ?. currently i have sent my passports for stamping to NDVO

pls confirm

cheers,
Heyy Buddy,

So photo submission went fine? ;)...Answers below-

- Yes it's the same process...If you have a relative/ friend in Canada you can apply for these Notes for $5..otherwise these 3rd party-sites like visafile.info/ caips.ca/ caipsnotes.com are good enough

- Absolutely legal..all applicant information is maintained due to the record-keeping and transparency law of the Canadian Govt. and you can request it anytime... It takes 30 days to give you the Notes, but it'd be generated as on the date you apply...And they have the right to scrub some sensitive info if necessary but by and large you can see all the details of ur file..When u apply through a 3rd party site, you are providing them a Consent form allowing them to apply on ur behalf.....There are only 3-4 such sites, all are reputed and have been around for a long time, so it's safe as well...

-No it has no impact whatsoever...:)...There is in fact, a separate dept. to process GCMS Requests, since applicants can & do apply for these Notes frequently, to understand delays, or become aware and provide the information that a VO may be waiting for..In fact the father of this thread ashif_ee came to know through his GCMS Notes that his MR request had been sent and expired also but he didn't even receive it...After seeing the Notes, he contacted the VO and got them to issue a 2nd MR...It has helped a lot of ppl in different ways..You are already in PPR stage, ur Visa is likely issued already, go ahead and apply buddy :)

For further info abt. GCMS, see this post->

Hi Buddy,

GCMS = Global Case Management System.
It's the interface used by Canada immigration to track and record a file processing electronically.
Each stage, file movement, comment of the officer and the decisions taken at each step get recorded in it.

We as applicants can ask for GCMS extracts to understand what's happening with out file. The request takes 30 days to be fulfilled and the extract is until the 1st day of the request made.

See here on how to apply for it->

Thanks for this information. Very helpful.

But not able to understand why they take so much time to send ppr after third line update. Security check complete in one day then what else formality they need to do which takes so much time. Any idea.
Hi Monika,

We can only speculate.. ;D.I believe a Due Date is set..then the file is set aside and the Officer takes up new files and process them..this goes on sequentially...then again on/near that Due date, the Officer takes up the file, conducts the next check and proceeds the file to the next stage...If the Officer is inundated with files, then he can maybe delay it after the Due Date as well by a few days..

It'd be difficult to handle otherwise considering the Volume of files being processed simultaneously at a busy office like NDVO....There seem to be some bureaucratic delays as well..moving a file from Dept. to Dept., one officer to another officer takes time ;)....these are the things I can think of...Good luck to you with your App...:)
