Hi all,

I am re entering to Canada from USA by road in my personal vehicle, but I made a mistake in my first entry to Canada where I did not make the list of goods under acquisition and goods to follow. That time I asked the custom officer at the airport regarding my next visit to Canada by road with everything under my possession, he was telling me that I need to produce evidence which proves that the goods were purchased before I became PR of Canada.

Has anyone gone under such situation? Please share your experiences.

Thank you.

If you are staying outside Canada for 72 hours or more you can import goods worth $750 without paying any tax. If it is more than that you have to pay taxes (13% in Ontario) when you enter. I am not sure if they will accept receipts as proof to prove that they were purchased before you became a PR. Goods to follow list is the official document by which they go.
