Hi all,

I cancelled my PR few years ago while I was working in other country.

I'm planning to re-turn to Canada this year, can anyone advise me which application should I fill-up ?

Is it the 'Application for a permanent resident card", "Request to reissue a permanent resident card" or non of this two ?

Thank you :)

If you officially gave up your PR status, then you'll need to qualify and apply for PR again from scratch through one of Canada's immigration programs. Details here (suggest you start by researching the Express Entry program):

Thank you for the prompt reply.

1) Isn't the Express Entry program for Skilled worker only ?
2) If i need to start from scratch again, can i still return back to Canada and live while the PR is in process ?

Thank you

1) There is a Skilled Trades program as well. However yes - most Canadian immigration programs are geared towards skilled workers.
2) No. If you wish to live in Canada while PR is being processed then you would need to have some sort of visa that allows you to do that like a work permit or study permit.

It all depends on EXACTLY what you meant by the phrase "I cancelled my PR few years ago".

I'm so sorry everyone. It was my mistake.

I actually applied the "Non-residents of Canada for tax purposes" not cancelled my "PR" ( got confused, it was few years ago)

Do you know which form should i fill, if I'm planning to return?

Really appreciate your help.

Are you a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident?

If you are a PR, do you meet the residency requirement? Is your PR card still valid?

This completely changes the dynamics of your situation.

You are now almost certainly in the "outside Canada with an expired PR card and failing to meet the Residency Obligation requirements" category, unless you are a Canadian citizen.

OK, let's get the correct information from you this time. Any advice offered would be based on the answers

1) Are you a PR or a Canadian citizen?
If you are a Canadian citizen, we can stop here...

2) When did you "land" as a PR?
3) How many days have you been physically in Canada in the past 1825 days?
4) Where are you now?
5) What is your nationality?
6) Why are you not in Canada now?

You need to answer the questions you have been asked. We cannot help you unless you do that.

Again, do you meet the residency requirement? Have you lived in Canada for 2 out of the last 5 years? When did your PR card expire? How old are you?

It may be possible to return - however it's possible it may be very difficult.
