I was in another thread recommending not to clone reference letters and I was rated down 5 times :(, like the posters above said some others took pity on me and thought I provided valuable advice and rated me up to zero.

Regardless of what we each say, we do keep a watch on the corner of the screen for that rating :P

YOU CAN WRITE ANYWAY YOU WANT!

Some of us just won't know what you are saying. ;)

Apparently someone doesn't like me once a day lol. i go down one everyday and then go up because some other poor soul decided I was good enough to go up. It would be good to see which post made me go down 1 lol.

SO I SHOULDN'T WRITE LIKE THIS LOL.

Check this out, i have not done a thing for last 24 hours and all of a sudden my rating is +1............ huuuurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaahhhhhhhhh.
We need some new kind of science to figure this out.... ;D

So maybe that means you should stay idle :P

No, actually, it just means that somebody read and rated a post of yours that was more than 24 hours old.

You're welcome. ;D

Since this thread is drawing a more profound type of commentary than I originally expected, let me weigh in again with a proposal.

We should have an awards night, a few months hence. We could give awards for :
(1) Most efficient naysayer (s/he who accumulates the greatest number of minus votes with the smallest number of posts).
(2) The most prolific rose thrower (the one who writes a lot of “feel good” posts -- substantive advice or information not required).
(3) Fact-giver extraordinaire (self-explanatory).
(4) Wrong-o Champeen. S/he who gives erroneous advice and must be corrected.
(5) Other categories?

A few members seem to devote a lot of time to reading every post n every category. We could elect three judges from their ranks (with their permission, of course), and they would give us their verdicts in (say ) 2 months.

What say yee?
8)

great idea! sometimes I get impression that rating has its own life ;)

I went through a whole day without someone dinging me down one, which seemed to happen everyday.
perhaps they did but someone gave me a +1 and it all canceled out.

Are we going to be able to see who is rating us in the future? I keep getting rated down, and am in fact one of the worst posters on the entire forum according to my rating. I don't agree with that. :) It would be nice to know who keeps rating me.

Karlshammer, for the longest time, i would go -1 everyday. It hasn't happened today (at least overall I haven't gone down yet for the day). Say someone rates me down for a post then would like to know how i was wrong in what i had said.

I rated you up, I think you provide neutral opinion and are extremely helpful, unfortunately you still are at -5 :(

I would love to see a feature where I can see historical ratings ::)

Thanks, rk2009!

I know what you mean, rupeshhari. That's why I think we should be able to see who rated us; if people are willing to put their two cents into someone's rating they should be willing to put their name forward to them as well. :)

This is so true. I don't know why but I keep on looking at it, even if its just for kicks.
