Thanks jes_ON
Ok now my question is: Would it be ok if this letter is directly from the supervisor and the Department rather than the University itself or its Human Resources office?

Yes, if they are willing and able to provide. In Lahorimunda's case, the university apparently does not permit this -

I am still confused what to do. I think I will apply based on my offer letter and T4 slips and see what they say. I will include a business card of my supervisor and let them decide whether I am eligible or not.

How do people apply on the basis of RA. I do not understand cause in any case RA is always related to their graduate work. Why do they have such a complicated category.

Do you have any idea how I can get in writing from CIC that I can use my NOC-4122 for immigration purposes. If I can get that I can get a letter from my supervisor.

Another question jes_ON, since I can document 2040 hours which makes almost an equivalent of one year of contineous work experience, can I apply on the graduate category of CIC? It is not apperenticeship which is not acceptable, its like a residency for doctors which CIC accepts.

It may be related to graduate work, but it is NOT always related to your thesis work - RAs that are employees have to "work" in addition to doing their own thesis work. Those on a stipend do not - BIG difference. Here's an example from one university - as I said before, it seems that each university has its own terms / interpretation -

Only if you have completed at least two years of study and a degree BEFORE starting as an RA...
