Hi everyone,

I am in my first year of my PhD program and would like to quit my study and start working. I completed my master degree December 31 2021, while I started my PhD program September 1 2021, so there was a semester where I was in both the PhD and the master program. Since now is still within 90 days from when I finished my master degree, technically I should still be eligible for PGWP. However, I am wondering being enrolled in the PhD program now will affect my eligibility? Many thanks!

If your date of completion on your letter says December 31, 2021 then you can apply for a PGWP. Being enrolled for PhD doesn’t change eligibility. Just make sure you were full time for your studies.

Hi Naturgrl, thanks for your reply. Does apply for PGWP invalidate my current study permit? Or does my study permit become invalid after I apply for PGWP? Thanks again

Since you are applying for a PGWP, your study permit becomes invalid 90 days after the graduation from your program.
