Dear All
Please I have the following enquiries regarding landing:
We have got the visas recently and I have time till the 9th of August to land ( I am the main applicant), the thing is my wife seems not much interested in following me to Canada with the children and may not do the landing so:
1) Do I have any obligations or would this create problems for me if I land in Canada alone?
2) Do I have to carry the same amount of funds for the family of four regardless if they are with me or not?
3) If my wife changed her mind in the future, do she and the children will have to go to the same process of immigration application...etc, or they should do the medical again only? all this will not ever work until I become a citizen then I can sponsor them only again at this stage?
Thanks and sorry for the multiple questions

1) No problems. If you are the principal applicant, you can land, regardless of if they land.

2) You have to carry funds for all of you in case they change their minds and join you later.

3) They can only land on their current PR visa until it expires. After that, you can apply to sponsor them if they want to come. You don't have to be a citizen and you would not have to show funds again to sponsor a spouse and dependent children. They will have to do the medicals again.

I don't know how old your children are but if they are coming of age, there is a limit where you can no longer sponsor them as dependent children. They stop being dependent if they get married or if they turn 22 unless they are full time students and therefore dependent on you financially.

@drspecialist
Try your best to motivate her to at least 'land' & then return imdtly - if she isn't interested... it'd save you & the family from lot of future hassles.

I agree with Qorax,

You have gone through all this immigration process and waitings etc and you know how it is like.

If you sponsor them later its gonna be a big hassle, and you need to prove your financial position as well as you will be sponsoring them under family class.
And when you apply later think if you do not have a job/ permanent job in Canada then how will you prove your financial stability.
Try to motivate them now or before their visas expire.
Once they get PR Cards, no problem then at all, they can return any time after that.

hahaha, well said herry, but there might be some difficulties in his case......

On the contrary, i am the applicant, and i want to add my spouse to the application once all the process/troubles are over, means i want to add her when i get the Medical request, coz there is some problem in my case, i.e. ( my last degree, is through Distance learning education,) If Unfortunately the VO didnt accepted it, i am unable to score 67,,

I just want to ask the seniors, is it OK?

Please comment!

If you already got married, you need to notify them and add her now. If she has a bit of education, you may even get some points for her.

Respected Leon, (i am kind of a fan of u), :-*

Yes i am married, i definitly have metioned it in my app, and arranged a declaration form indicating that i am not willing to add her in my app, at the moment, as she is having her studies right now....

And yes she can get me 03 more points, but i already have 67, Alhamdullillah..

The reason i am not adding her at the moment is, i dont want to put her app fee at risk, like mine, coz of uncertainity of credential evaluation, (as i ve mentioned b4 one of my degree is through distance learning, though it is from the most pristegeous University of my Country)
Once my app will move forward, b4 medicals i will add her in my app, and resend her form and fee.....

Dear Leon, plz advice is it OKAY,,, means can i add her afterwards like this??

Regards,

Leon

So did you include her in your application as not accompanying and you wish to add her later? If that is the case, it is not a problem.

On the other hand, if you applied as a single and got married during your application process, you should let them know you got married soon after your wedding and not months later. I see your point of wanting to wait with the application fee for her until you know if you are approved but on the other hand, if your problem is lack of points because of one degree, maybe the points from your wife would help.
