Questions regarding Express Entry Canadian Experience Class

Hello ,

I completed MAsc from UWaterloo in 2015 Dec and I started working full-time in Jan 2016. My spouse moved to canada in 2014 (on open work permit) and he started working full-time in May 2014. He has 2 yrs of Canadian work experience. He did his Btech in India and was working as Software Engineer for 4 years in India.
I was thinking of applying for PNP , but unfortunately OINP has placed a temporary pause on the intake of applications. Instead of waiting for that to reopen , we are planning to apply for express entry in CEC category with my spouse as primary applicant.

Do we need to get ECA for his Btech? Is it mandatory for CEC ?

Hello,

No it is not mandatory, since CEC is based on Canadian work experience not education credentials. But I have to add, getting the credentials assessed is always a good idea, extra points on all streams and a fair addition to your supporting documents.
