I'm planning a soft landing from Hong Kong to Calgary, with a layover in Vancouver. I have a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) and I'm wondering about the softlanding process at the Vancouver airport.

Specifically, I have a couple of questions:
  1. PR Landing Process Time: How long does the PR landing procedure typically take at the Vancouver airport? I would like to know the timeline for completing the necessary steps.
  2. Luggage Handling: Suppose the airline automatically transfers my luggage to my onward flight to Calgary, but If I need to complete the PR process at Vancouver airport, will I need to collect and re-check my bags during the layover in Vancouver?
I'd appreciate any insights or advice on what to expect during the soft landing process and luggage handling when transiting through Vancouver on my way to Calgary with a COPR.

Thank you so much!

You should contact CBSA at YVR.

I suspect that you will have to claim your luggage, since this will be your first entry point into Canada where you will encounter CBSA because of your situation (landing as a PR).
