I have some questions relating to my job experience to use for the Skilled Worker program. It seems like my situation is too specific so I don't think anyone can answer here (I asked but no one answered). Where can I ask to see whether my job experience is qualified or not (or whether I should do a year of a certain job to fill the requirement)?

Since I live in Japan now, there's no way I can travel to the States or Canada for consultation. So preferrably, something I can do online... (or more locally in Japan if anyone knows anything)

I'm willing to pay a fee if not too expensive...but I just don't know where to ask.

Suggestions?

Hi, I also live in Japan and am applying for PR.

What kind of work experience are you talking about? I think there are some temporary contract jobs (ie. haken) that cannot be classified, but in general you should be able to list all your work experience in the background information forms.

Here's the information in the CIC website about all immigration categories:

Perhaps if you don't qualify as a skilled worker, you can check the provincial nominees programs.

Also, I've seen this list of "qualifying occupations", however I'm not sure to what extent it's being applied:

Lastly, here's a contact list of the Canadian Consulate in Tokyo where you may ask your questions:

Hope that helps!

matane!
