Questions about Work Permit before having PR

HI,

I'm currently a refugee claimant. My hearing is next week. I believe it will get approved as I believe I have a good case. But for this discussion, let's assume I'm approved and I just became a protect person

My question is, how can I work. can you help me by answering these question

• Do I need work permit as a protected person? if so, is it same application as refugee claimant? my goal is to be able to work asap. So should I apply for work permit now, or wait until my hearing is approved.
• How long does it usually take to get PR after becoming protected person? I know I have to apply for it
• What is the best place to find IT jobs? I'm a developer.

First, I would recommend you to apply for work visa. Try to consult some expert immigration consultant for a better guidance.

I'll help you with one question. You can apply for an open work permit if:

You have filed a claim for refugee protection in Canada and
- you are waiting for the Refugee Protection Division (RPD) of the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada to decide on your claim; and
- you cannot pay for your basic needs without working.
