How about for the Conjugal sponsorship? Will we be able to do that? And actually im not sure if getting married is an option for us for us, since we are common law partners of the same sex. Will that make any dfference?
You should have mentioned that you were same sex at the beginning - that can make a big difference. Conjugal should be possible since you are same sex and from a country that does not approve of such relationships (i.e. not possible to marry). Search for "conjugal" on this forum and read as many threads as you can on the subject. These applications require more evidence than marriage or common law applications.

And just to be clear, if you have not lived together for a full year then you are NOT common law (and shouldn't say you are). If you say you're common law, then you fall into the problem of failing to declare your partner in your application, committing misrepresentation, possibly losing your PR status and never being able to sponsor your partner. Long story short - do not say you're common law. It's only going to land you in trouble.

Conjugal probably would not work. For conjugal you need a reason why you cannot live together for a year or get married. You have a reason why you can't get married, but since you were living together obviously there is no problem there. Just not wanting to live together for a year is not enough of a reason for CIC to accept a conjugal application.

You and your partner could try getting married in a country that allows same-sex marriage; your partner could also try to get a temporary visa for Canada and get married here, though TRVs are hard to get.
