Questions about police certificate

Hi,

I am very confused with the term Police certificate and wondering what exactly I need to prepare. Is it just a "criminal record check" and then with a fingerprint? There are lots of kinds of criminal record check POLICE INFORMATION CHECK (PIC), PVSC, and ect. Which is the right one?

I heard from ppl that I don't need to include this police certificate in my application, while CIC will notify me of what exactly I need to do, is that true?

They need the police certificate from your country. The one that is for immigration purposes if they ask what it is for. If you haven't have one yet. I included mine with applying. If you didn't do that then CIC will ask you for it.
