Hi,

I am about to apply for the visitor record extension for my parents, just wondering if incase there is a refusal due to any reasons, does this effect the multiple entry visit visa that has already been issued to them for the next 4 years or so ? My understanding is that the refusal should not affect the multiple entry visa, and even if they get refused they can always go and come back but just want to make sure before applying. This visit visa was issued to them after 2 refusals in the past so I don't want to lose that again.

Please let me know.

If the extension is refused, it should have no impact on an already-issued visa unless the refusal is for something like criminality.

If they are refused it is just a signal that they have been in Canada too long as visitors and need to go home and reestablish their ties. Once they have been out of Canada for some time they can return for another visit. They have visitor visas so shouldn't be living in Canada.
