Hi there,

I recently got ITA under CEC stream. My wife and I are both in Canada now. She is a full time student and I am working full time. I am the main applicant.
My wife has about two years of working experience in our home country prior to coming to Canada to study. When creating the EE profile, I put this in. But when I got ITA and recalculated our score, I found that her foreign work experience does not give us any points.
Having that said, it seems useless to list her foreign experience in the profile. Now that in the checklist we are required to upload a reference for that experience.

So here is the question:
Can we just delete her two-year working experience and put "unemployed" instead? Then we don't need to spend time and effort to gather a reference. But will this change affect our application?

Any help and adivce is appreciated.

In general, changes that do not lower your CRS points below the threshold of the round you were invited in, and changes that do not affect your eligibility for the program you were invited under are fine post-ITA.

You are correct that foreign work experience for your spouse does not give you any additional points in the CRS points system, therefore changing this will not be a problem.

It is best to simply delete all entries for her work experience that won't give her points in the work experience section (rather than putting unemployed, which is not accurate). I can't quite remember if there is a personal history section for any secondary applicants, but if there is, make sure to mention her work history in this section. Anything you put in the personal history section will not require a reference letter or any other documents.

I would also recommend to include a Letter of Explanation in which you explain why you made this change.
Thank you so much! This is really helpful!
Yes, there is a personal history section where I can put her employment history.
