Question Regarding Proof of Funds

I hope you’re doing well.

Quick question: A friend received an ITA in February and has had a sum of money in his account since 2024, which was given as a gift to fund his student visa in the same year (By his Mother). Does he need to provide proof of the source of these funds?

The money has remained untouched in his account since it was received.

Please note: there have been some other movements in his savings account, but he has never used the amount received from his mother.

Of course i do have it, but i want to know if it's obligated to justify the origins of my mother's money. (From where she got them)
