Hi

I am in the process of completing my outland application for permanent residency. I am from the USA and am being sponsored by my wife, a Canadian citizen.

According to the guides offered by CIC, I can see that I would have to include any children of my own on my application whether they are coming to Canada with me or not. I do not have any children of my own, but my wife has two children (minors under 18) from a previous marriage. I do not have any legal custody of them or official legal rights to them (my wife holds full custody).

My question is, do I need to include my wife's children on my application? Do they need to have medicals or anything? Do I need to even mention them?

Sorry if this is a dumb question or if the answer is posted/listed somewhere, there is a lot of information involved in this process as I'm sure all of you know! :o

Thanks in advance!

Your step-children are not part of the sponsorship, so they are not listed as your dependents. So, no medicals etc, because they are already Canadians. You include them in your "Additional Family" details as your step-children, on the page where you list your spouse, parents and siblings.
