Hello everyone,

I'm expecting to be eligible to apply for citizenship in January next year and realized I may have a problem.
Prior to obtaining PR I was a visitor (from US), came to Canada visa free right before covid and ended up getting extensions twice and obtaining visitor record.
My most recent visitor record expired on May 2021, I applied for PR (+OWP) in April 2021. Received PR in April 2022. My question is: between the time of May 2021 to April 2022, do I have maintained status as a visitor because I applied for PR (+OWP)? Can those days be calculated into physical presence (for the 0.5day calculation)?

Thank you very much!!! Much appreciated!

Applying for PR did not give you status in Canada as a visitor. If through spousal sponsorship an OWP does give you implied status if you had a valid VR when you applied for the OWP. You were likely out of status for quite some time but in those days there was minimal vetting of applications.
