I'm out of status in the USA and will be travelling by road to land in Canada soon. What issues should I expect at the POE.

Great forum.Thanks for any replies.

As long as you have your COPR, proof of funds, passport, you should not have any problems.

hi i want to know what kind of status u were in when u applied for immi to canada please let me know as i want to help to bring someone in canada through my sponsorship and they r also out of status

My family and I also have our Canadian permanent residence visas through the federal skilled workers program. We are all out of status in usa for almost 3 years. We are going to travel by land on a uhaul truck with a trailer to carry one car. We will be entering peace arch us-Canada border.

However, I became anxious when my Canadian lawyer based in los Angeles advised me to go back to my country of citizenship then enter Canada. PMM said that for as long as you have your COPR, valid passports and proof of funds, you will be okay. Now, I am confused because the US border patrol might arrest and then deport us.

PMM, can u please advise us on this issue. Thank you and more power to your posts.

You don't have to return to your country of citizenship. You can drive by land to Canada to land.

Of course you're not going to be able to return to the US for a long time once you leave - but that's a different story.

i'll be driving all the way from southern california on a Uhaul truck with trailer carrying one car. I'am I going to be interviewed and inspected by the US Customs and Border Patrol before I reach the Canada Border Patrol. Did anyone of you here experience what I'm about to do? Please share your experience as you crossed the border and if you encountered any problems. thanks
