Would be grateful for your responses regarding my question.
Myself, my wife and my two children will become eligible to apply for our citizenship in May-2018. Me and my wife have filed 2 tax returns to date and will continue to do so in future. The question I had is about my 2 school going children, one of whom would have completed 18 years in April-18 and the younger one who would still be 17 during that time. Is filing 4 tax returns mandatory for them as well ? How would the case of my elder child be treated as he would havd been a minor for most of the 4 year qualifying period ? Both of them currently are and will continue to remain time students without earning any income. We have not filed tax returns for either of my two children yet. I realise that this is some way down the road but would like to plan ahead.
