Question on Study Permit IMM1294? Cost of Study?

I am filling out the IMM1294 form and it asks about the details of my intended study in Canada. Specifically, they ask about the cost of tuition, room and board, and other expenses. My questions are the following:

1)Am I supposed to fill in the costs of 1 year or the whole 4 years?
2)Also, I have a scholarship that covers a big portion of the tuition + the room and board. So, Should I still mention the full costs without the scholarship? or do I have to subtract the amount of the scholarship?

You shouldn't subtract that from the scholarship... The scholarship is gonna help when you show how are you going to cover for those expenses...

Where will I show this? You mean in the statement of purpose?

When you submit proof of financial support... You must include any letter from whomever is awarding you the scholarship and the amount...

Okay thanks. I have a letter from my uni that includes both my acceptance and the scholarship. Does that work fine?

Also, in the form IMM1294, they ask about my "available funds": should those be the amount of money in the bank statement? Or should I also add the scholarship? Or do u think i should write a study plan or statement ofn purpose to explain everything about my financial situation. What do u think? Thanks.

You should add the scholarship let's say 20 to the money you have let's say 25k for a total of 45k of available funds... And if you attach the letter from7the University... You will be fine... Of course you can include an explanation in a letter...

Nothing is too much in this case

Thanks so much!! as a final note, can my bank statement be from a bank account (my mother's account) which is in a foreign country that is NOT my country of residence or citizenship? does it matter?

I have not read anything about it.. But if the bank account is your mother's you should include a notarized letter from your mom where she commits to pay for you expenses or what ever...

this is good question

I will renew my visa for two years more. Should I put the cost of tuition+ room+ board for two years or just 1 year is fine?

thanks

You need to prove you have enough money at least for Tuition + 12 month period....

Quoting: Tuition plus $10,000 for a 12-month period (or $833 per month)

Plus if you are coming with another PERSON (spouse for example) you need 4000 CAD for year, and 3000 CAD for any other person per year coming with you (for every kid for example)...

That is the minimum CIC asks you to show... But of course that is the least...

If you can prove you have more money even better...

If you are going to QUEBEC the amounts are a bit higher...

Hi Wolfpmd3!

I have a similar question.

I have already paid the first semester tuition which is 8k CAD. Should I add it to the money in the bank that I have to show in the "funds available"? Let's say I have 50k CAD in the bank, so the total funds available would be 58k CAD?

Of course you should but make sure to make a chart or something like that where you specify that 8k come from already payed tuition...
I mean like
1.- Mom's money 10k
2. - My Money 15k
3.- Already payed Tuition 8k

And so on... And of course provide prove that first semester tuition has already been payed..
