Does the PAFSO effect all the PR applications that made in canada and out side canada? or just some offices out side canada?

I remember reading somewhere that it's effecting the offices within Canada. However these are the main ones been effected outside Canada,

Manila,
Beijing,
Bangkok,
Jakarta,
Shanghai,
Hong Kong,
Chongqing,
Astana,
Delhi,
Chandigarh,
London,
Moscow and
Mexico City

You may find lot more information at the below link,

I believe so. There seems to be some contention on this issue so I have emailed the Union to find out and am still awaiting a reply.

Processing hasn't stopped. It has slowed for those that have already been in process and pretty much moves at a crawl for those that have just applied.

union is just like onion. it hurts your eyes. their answer would be---"We are very sorry to hear that you are..blah blah blah... We suggest you to email Tony Clement to convey your problem blah blah blah...so that Tony comes to the table talk...and we get pay raise.. ;)". You wont get nothing more than that. but better try, its a pressure from the public

I know why the are striking. That isn't what I asked them. Simply if FSW's working on family class are also being affected by the strike.

Hello CJG, have you heard anything back from PAFSO re: the forum members debate about whether or not their members are processing PR applications? A few of the senior members were vehemently stating that this had no impact at all, while many others disagreed with that interpretation. Glad to see you and your wife are enjoying your "landingmoon" ;)

Some offices are processing applications. In New Delhi, there have only been a splattering of COPR's issued in the last 6-8 weeks as opposed to several every week. New Delhi is slower than a crawl right now. This whole board has been quiet. Hope they go back to work soon. I am ok waiting the allotted time that was given to me, but adding 2-3 months on top of that time, for reasons that are not our fault is ludicrous. These are peoples lives they are dealing with.

Nothing yet but I still believe that all classes of visas are affected.

I believe you are correct; however, either way, we can at least put to rest some of the misinformation floating around. I will be very interested in the definitive facts.

The diplomats on strike are not immigration officers.

Hi Amikety, I know that you and PMM and another senior keep stating that the PAFSO strike is not affecting immigration applications but I am confused and keep wondering why you folks are so vehement on informing forum members that it has nothing to do with PR applications when the media seems to keep saying the contrary. Please see below, this info. goes as far back as mid-June 2013. I am happy to be corrected by the way. I will post this in the other threads as well where the confusion continues. The link is:

http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2013/06/21/canadas_tourism_industry_could_take_hit_during_strike_by_visa_staff.html

"More than 320 of the 1,350 foreign affairs union members are immigration officers. So far, PAFSO members have been on legal strike, disrupting the visa processing services in Beijing, Shanghai, Delhi, Chandigarh, Mexico City and Manila."

Citizenship and Immigration Canada said the department has designated visa officer positions overseas as essential but the union said they account for only 25 per cent of all immigration officers.

“Contingency plans are already in place to ensure all offices remain open and are providing at least a minimum level of service,” said immigration spokesperson Nancy Caron.

“Priority will be placed on urgent humanitarian applications. Anyone applying for a visa should submit their application as far in advance as possible.”

"Although 1,060 non-union local employees continue their work in visa offices, the majority of them are support workers and not decision-makers, said Edwards."
