If one is unable to make it to the oath ceremony date for some reason (out of country, out of province, etc.), what to do? Please provide opinions.

Simply contact the local office and before the oath date, let them know you cannot make it (hope you can tell them a good reason for it). Then they will likely reschedule it for a later date.
