Hi Guys,

I have a question on India PCC. I am in Canada currently. Since my last passport was issued outside India, I realized that getting PCC via Indian embassy can take long time. Hence I got PCC from police commissioner office.

My question is whther the language in the PCC I got is acceptable. It says Mr X does not have any criminal history from March 2005 to March 2015 in Y jurisdiction. Staff in the commissioner office said they can issue clearance for last 10 years only.

Do you think the duration and jurisdiction is ok ? Appreciate any feedback.

Hi pk,

To answer your question correctly - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/asia-pacific/india.asp

And if you're outside India :
http://www.blsindia-canada.com/pol_clr_cert.php

A police cert from the commissioner won't do, to the best of my knowledge. My Indian passport was issued in London but I had no problems at all getting a PCC from India. I'm currently in India where I applied online at the Passport Seva website mentioned and then a police officer came to my residence, asked a couple of questions, asked for signatures of two neighbors post which the request was forwarded to the SP office. It was all pretty swift and I received all updates via text. Collected my PCC yesterday from the passport office. Took about 10 days in all!

Hope this info helps!

Thanks for the response. I think the difference here is that you are in India and I am in Canada. To get the the PCC from RPO I have to apply via embassy and that takes long time as I have heard.

I am pretty sure the PCC by commissioner is accpetible as said on the link you provided. My doubt is mainly on the duration written in the PCC.

Anybody else any experience with this?

Hi,
I specifically mentioned the 2nd link since you're outside of India. My fiance lives in Canada and applied for his PR last year. He applied for PCC through BLS as mentioned in the second link :) Good luck!

I think it should be ok. I got PCC thro BLS in Canada. It took around 3 weeks time. Also I got another one from passport office in India on the same day.
