Hey guys I have a question about sponsoring a Sister, It was mentioned on CiC's website that I cannot sponsor a sibling if he/she is over 18. But it was mentioned as well that I can sponsor any relative:

You can sponsor one relative of any age or relationship, but only if you do not have one of these living relatives who could be sponsored as a member of the family class:

spouse or common-law partner,
conjugal partner,
son or daughter,
parent,
grandparent,
sibling, or
uncle, aunt, nephew or niece, and
you do not have any relative who is a:

Canadian citizen,
permanent resident or
registered Indian under the Indian Act.

I'm kinda confused, did anyone sponsored a sibling here who is over 18 already? I will really appreciate any answers. Thanks :)

You can only sponsor a sibling if you are not married or common-law, have no kids, no other family in Canada, and parents are both deceased.

Hello, we're planning to sponsor my wife's sister and she will be the sponsor as well. We have no kids, both of her parents are still alive though and my family on my side (Mom,Dad,Siblings) are here in Canada.

She can't be sponsored since your husband has you in Canada.

To confirm what scylla said, your wife can't sponsor her sister since she already has family in Canada (you).

Also she has family (her parents) who could be sponsored as a member of the family class under parents/grandparents sponsorship program, so that would also disqualify her.
