Question about Police Certificate

Hi Everyone,

The CEC application checklist says 'You must get a police certificate from each country or territory where you have lived for six or more months in a row since the age of 18. However, the instruction guide on the CIC website says CPP is required for each country other than Canada in which you have lived for six (6) consecutive months or longer since reaching the age of 18. I did not leave Canada for more than 6 months since 18. Do I still have to submit a Police Certificate?

technically no, but submit a written explanation, and don't be surprised if they ask for a PCC from your country of citizenship. In fact, you should be prepared for that (esp. if it takes a long time to get).

Exactly what jes_ON mentioned. Be prepare to provide a PCC from back home. A friend of mine had the same situation as yours and they asked for it.

Thank you so much for your prompt reply. I checked the PCC requirement for my home country. I cannot obtain one without the CIC letter requesting the certificate and it must be sent directly to the CIC office that requests it. It seems like there is nothing I can do at the moment. Hopefully they will not ask for it.
