Question about mom flying for wedding?

Well I have been living in Canada for over a year now which means I have not seen my mom in that long.
It has always been just me and her. She is more than a mom and is my best friend. I would really hate for her to miss this day.

The only thing that is stopping us is the cost of airline tickets.
I was just wondering if you could advice me any site that you purchase affordable tickets from?
The wedding is less than a month away and I would like to purchase a ticket soon.

Also, since this will be her first time ever flying and crossing the border, what should she say to the officers when crossing?

I'm guessing she is flying to Newfoundland, but where is she coming from? At the border she should tell the truth. She is coming to visit her daughter.

She would be flying from Charlotte, NC since that is the closest airport to to my home in the US.
And yes she would be flying to Newfoundland.

Where are you from exactly? I'm from Charleston SC but I lived a long time in Columbia just south of Charlotte.

I mostly use Travelocity and use the "+/- 1 to 3 days" feature. It will show prices for a range of dates making it easier to find the lowest price. Once I find a flight, I always check that airlines webpage for the same itinerary because sometimes there is a difference in the fare. What airport(s) would she most likely fly to?

When I visited Newfoundland, I flew into Halifax and drove to North Sydney, then took the ferry to Argentia. I don't know when your wedding is, but it may be worth considering. I just plugged in random dates (June 3–June 10), but at least right now, Kayak is finding me a $778 CLT-YYT and a $273 (that's not a typo) CLT-YHZ. Clearly, though, her time is going to be worth something, so it may still be worth the extra money just to fly into YYT, especially if someone can pick her up.

I got a similar result for Halifax on Travelocity ($272), but a higher price to YYT ($878).
