Hey guys ! I've been pondering this one question for a couple days but still confused of it. If someone smarter could provide an answer for this :)

IMM 1344 in the beginning of the application Question 1:
"Check one box to indicate how you wish to proceed if you do not meet the sponsorship requirements.

If you check the box to withdraw your sponsorship application then
-the sponsorship application will not be processed. All fees will be refunded, except for the $75 sponsorship fee.

If you check the box to proceed with the application for permanent residence then
-the sponsorship application will be refused. None of the fees will be refunded."

So I'm confused with this... if the sponsor does not meet the requirements, the application can still be proceed for permanent residence ? But sponsorship application will be refused.
Can someone explain this. Thanks !! :)

Yes, If the sponsor is refused , you may choose to still process the application without the sponsor.

The following is from CIC website

If you are approved as a sponsor

We will assess if the person you want to sponsor meets the permanent residence requirements. If their permanent residence application is refused, we will let you know why the application was refused and how to appeal the decision.

If you are refused as a sponsor

Your relative can still apply for permanent residence. Their application may not be approved

You should choose NOT to proceed, if your sponsor is not approved.

For a sponsorship application, you will NOT be approved.

The only reason to have the application still be processed in the case you are not eligible to sponsor is if your spouse plans on appealing the resulting refusal under H&C grounds.

For the vast majority of people you would want to select "No" and correct the reason for sponsorship denial and then reapply.
