Question about Employment/Source of Income

I've looked through this forum for an answer but didn't come up with much - most posts talk about the principal applicant not working and the sponsor being employed. For me, however, it's the opposite. I (the principal applicant) have a full-time job, whereas my partner (the sponsor) currently does not work due to illness.

Would CIC accept the fact that I work and can support us both? (Which I can and have been doing for the past year).

Oh goody. And that's fully sufficient? I only ask because the document checklist is saying the SPONSOR has to provide the proofs of support/income. Should I just write a letter of explanation saying I have a permanent job?

There is no minimum income requirement for spousal sponsorship. As long as you can demonstrate that you will not be needing to avail of social assistance then you'll be fine. Just write a letter of explanation and also maybe attach one of your pay stubs to show that you do indeed have a full time permanent job. They CANNOT refuse your app on the basis that the sponsor does not have a job though.

I wonder if you can help with this question too: On the doc checklist, question 7 part c (proving you're in a conjugal relationship), you have to pick 2 out of the 4 options. I have the "other proof" (box 3) which is the letters from friends and family, but nothing else from that set. Will a Declaration of Common Law be enough for box 1 (Important Documents for you and your spouse showing you are recognized as their spouse.)

Just to be clear, I have many other forms of proof, but they all belong in the other set (proof we living together)

Also take screenshots of facebook posts where you post about things you have done with your spouse and also a screenshot of your friend's/ family's reactions to the post.

Um nope, I definitely mean 7c. My document checklist doesn't have a 7E. But to answer that question I DO have letters (2 notarized)

What date does it say on your check list. I think it was updated in either Feb or April. Make sure you're using the latest form.

So my checklist WAS out of date, so thanks for mentioning it, but there still isn't a question 7E. On page 9/10 it ends with 7c, and page 10 is just the signature checklist

I've also just noticed that 3 of my other forms (1344, 5532 and 0008) are also out of date (Nov 18 for 1344, Feb 19 for the others) so check those too! I'm beyond pissed off with myself because I now have to re-fill them all out and I'm already running late. Will CIC just scrap the whole thing if they're a version out of date?

They give some grace period but there's been enough time now since the new forms were released for people to update them so I'd just redo the forms if I were you.

Also, on IM0008, I keep getting an error message when I input the date I entered common-law, saying it must be "equal or greater than today's date". The date is 2019-03-04, how can that be wrong?

I think you are "common-law"? So if you filled the application after February you do not need to change anything but if you are doing "spouse" then you will need to use the updated checklist.
