Query regarding Passport Number Change

Hi,

I am from India. In my wife's passport, she doesn't have my name added and the address is different from her current residential address. As such, during PCC from Passport Seva Kendra, they said that police verification would be done. Now there is a chance, they may ask us to apply for new passport with my name added and then again apply for PCC.

I wanted to know what is the process and explanation that I can give to CIC for change in Passport number. Also, the IELTS scores for her would be tied to the old passport number. Is there anything i should do here?

First of all there is no need for new passport, but if there is no other way then go ahead and get a new one (Process it fast) and get medicals after that.
Make changes in your application details accordingly and write an LOE explaining the situation
No worries about IELTS score, write an LOE that your previous passport was used an ID for IELTS.
