Hi All,

I wanted to ask a query regarding filling foreign work experience in the express entry profile. In the express entry form, there are some options which ask for the number of years one has been working in a foreign country.

My query is: I have worked in United Kingdom for 6 months but neither there is any option for <1 year or writing the duration on your own for the time you have been to some foreign site or any option known as other. I mean no such option is there.

What should I do in this case? I want to show my foreign exp but how. Can someone please help?

If you went to UK while working for an Employer in a different country, you should just mention your employer from the original country of the job, not an on-site assignment unless your employment actually moved to UK. If you did work for a UK company, you can add that experience in your profile when you are filling out your work history using Month and Year format for start and end date of employment. Beware, you will need to provide a letter of reference from the company in a specific format with details about your job, format of letter is on CIC website. If you cannot provide such a detailed letter, you should not mention any such job on your profile or when calculating your score.

These are CIC requirements for employment criteria:

Skilled work experience

Your work experience must be:

at least one year (1,560 hours total / 30 hours per week), continuous full-time or an equal amount in part-time,
paid work (volunteer work, unpaid internships do not count),
in the same job,
within the last 10 years, and
at skill type 0, or skill levels A or B of the 2011 National Occupational Classification (NOC).

If you ONLY have the 6 months experience and no other experience for 1 year continuous employment in the same NOC category in past 10 years, you might have to wait and gain more experience because 1 year continuous experience is mandatory. Additionally use other pathways like Canadian Experience Class if you have family members in Canada to gain more points on your application.

Do well on your IELTS to score higher points for language skills.

Thanks for the reply. I have all the letters and the sponsorship letter from UK client. Yes, my employment did not move to UK for those 6 months. I was an employee of Indian organization. Can you please share the link with me for that letter where I will have to show the experience in CIC format?

So, as per you, should I not count that 6 months' onsite work exp? I have a total of 6.7 years of work exp in my field and have scored 7 band in IELTS and in individual section I have scored >=6.

Please suggest if there is any chance to be in the cutoff. Or if you can suggest how should I increase my marks more.

Also, one more point please, I have a very closest friend of mine settled in Canada and it has been around 1 year that she has settled there. Can I use her reference in the application?

Any document or any proof that will be required? Please help.

One more query please, I have 6.7 years of work experience at a total and have completed my post graduate as well in 2012. Also got 7 band in IELTS. The score distribution was 6,6.5,7 and 7.5.

I am getting 437 as a total score where I am not counting UK's experience individually, instead counting in my employment time with my organization here in India.

Is there any chance to get ITA with this score? Please help.

437 is low score, at-least for current scenario...
Look at the draw data since 2015 January...

It's not that you shouldn't, it's just that it won't matter if you do or you don't. For EE - the Comprehensive ranking score (CRS) will count a maximum of "3 years or more" for 25 points. You cannot get more points for years worked after that.

However, you also have to qualify under one of the programs, in your case, the Federal Skilled Worker program, and you need a minimum of 67 points to qualify. For the FSW program, you get a maximum # of points for 6 years of work experience

So it will not affect your results whether or not you include those 6 months in the UK. (You still have to provide the PCC for the UK, tho).

Unfortunately, someone who is not "family" will not help you with points, and the VO cannot consider the letter. But hypothetically, if you were interested in settling in the same province where she lives, and if you were seeking a provincial nomination, at that point a letter from her could help.

Any document or any proof that will be required? Please help.
