There are several MICC centres. Which one will you be at?
I'm not absolutely certain yet, because I'm waiting to get my COPR in the mail (ECAS says Decision made and Ottawa tells me it's acceptance!) but I'm thinking about going to Univserite de Montreal.

MICC is pretty good at getting students to a functional level of French in a period of 8 months. Apparently, if you study French abroad (Alliance Française or the like), the government will reimburse you for it.

The intensive full-time french course they offer is about 11 weeks, and you're supposed to take part in those courses three separate times. The next 11 week course starts in August, and ends right before Christmas which is perfect for my because I would like to start School during the winter semester. However, that means that I won't be returning to continue the french courses, but I'm sure I'll be much more fluent in 11 weeks, and I'll be taking French at Dawson as well.

Here is where I'm getting my information.

It's great, because they offer you financial assistance while you're taking the full-time classes. They'll even pay for your transportation.

Ya, it's a really good program.

Here is a list of programs outside of Quebec that are Quebec approved:

You have to apply online, after that you will be invited at micc. You have to do a small test in French and they will make a decision on your entry level. Micc will decide where to go, could be at the university or cégep. Depends where they give the course francisation.

Is this only if you're a provincial nominee? Or does it work in Spouse sponsorship cases too? My husband took it on his own time with Alliance Francaise and he lives abroad waiting for his PR approval. You think once he comes here he can ask for reimbursement?

This is for every PR who comes to live in Québec. Your husband will not be reimbursed for his Alliance Francaise. He will be reimbursed when he is admissable for the course Francisation.

What if you are landing in Ontario first date but may settle in Quebec later? I had highschool french so not enough to function in a Quebec job. But it is closer to family and we'd like to return. Can I take the French then with the Governments assistance?

Everything I've read online says it's for Immigration who are settling in Quebec, but I don't see why they wouldn't offer you courses as well. The thing is, the application I'm filling out has asked me for my CSQ number, which is something you get if you pay the extra $200 Quebec fee when going for ppr.

**EDIT: I looked it up an you won't be able to take advantage of the same french courses that the MICC offers. However, you might be able to go through Service Canada or Emploi Quebec to receive classes. Many jobs offer free classes as well.
