Hey guys. This is my first post on this forum. And I would highly appreciate your help in a small inquiry regarding the permanent residency (after obtaining CSQ).

I received my CSQ beginning of May 2017, and in order to apply for the residency visa I need to provide a police certificate from the countries I resided in for the past 10 years and some other documents that require some time to get certified.

Its taking me longer than planned to get all the documents ready.

Do you think its fine if I apply for the residency 2 to 3 months after I receive my CSQ.

and do you know if there is a time limit to apply for the residency visa after obtaining the CSQ?

Thanks in Advance

Your csq expiry date is shown on it. It's 3 years since issuing date. You can apply within these 3 years

CSQ is valid for 3 years so its fine to wait for 2-3 months, however.................

Federal PR application for QSW does not require whole lot of documents. Only documents I am able to recall are Certified Birth Certificates and PCC. Sending PCC with application is optional. You can send those later. If you expect to get PCC in next few weeks then it makes sense to hold off application otherwise submit application without those.

Hi APPNOV2014NY,

I had an additional question. If my last PCC for USA has validity until 05-Aug-2017 and if i applying for Federal PR in 2 weeks(lets say 05- July-2017), do you think if there is any possibility that i may be asked to get one again?. This is because i heard most of the PCCs are valid for 1 year.

I never traveled to USA since I received the PCC or since last i last left USA in December 2013. Do you know if the one-year validity will end when they receive the application or when they issue a AOR....

Thanks

You should be fine if you did not visit USA after the date on which FBI-PCC was generated.

Here is my high level understanding:

a) If Canada is your current country of residence then no PCC required. CIC has direct access to RCMP database and they will ask for RCMP Clearance only in few rare cases where they are unable to match applicant record or if multiple records are returned and one of those multiple records has some questionable entry.

b) Current country of residence ( except Canada) - PCC should be generated within last 6 months of date of delivery of PCC to CIC.

c) Past visited Countries - PCC should be generated after last visit.

Thanks APPNOV2014NY.

It's much clear now

One more question on dependent.

My spouse is with me on visitor visa and infact she has CSQ now too.

Any idea if she can apply for a job based on CSQ while we apply and wait for PR(QSW) or any work authorization is required. Such as Open work permit ...

You will need work permit. CSQ does not give you privilege to work in Quebec.
