Hello all,

Just have this dilemma. I am very interested to visit Canada before receiving Permanent Residence.

However, is it possible that visiting Canada on a Temporary Resident Visa before obtaining Permanent Residence Visa negatively affects Permanent Residence application? could it negatively affect the decision?

Also read on some other post that if you do this (entering Canada on a Temporary Resident Visa before obtaining Permanent Residence) you must notify the Visa Office whithin 6 months of the visit. Do anyone know how you inform VO that you visited Canada? Do you send them a letter via Regular Mail? E-Mail? Which details should we include?

Thanks in advance for your help. It would be extremely useful for me to visit Canada before settling there, but have these doubts.

Any input will be much appreciated.

MontréalSW
I did that in 2013 for same reasons.
I applied for Temporary Resident Visa and sent my Quebec AOR with application, visa granted.

When I was filling Federal application, I was suggested to state that I was in Quebec.

They do have a system but you also do have to take 1 picture. Go visit them first. They will give you an appointment (normally its the next day) and they will also tell you what you have to bring. Ask them if you are allowed to eat before blood test. Normally you are allowed to eat because it a HIV and Syphilis test but ask them still.

Hello Ldmtl,
Thanks for the information.

Hello Ldmtl,
Thanks for the information.
Hi SSS1234
I have done my Medical at : Clinique Médicale Luso (Mont Royal) .. they will take your photo there, and no need to be fasting .. very fast, 3 days and your result will be transmitted electronically to CIC.
You just need your passport or any Government ID with your photo on it (driving license) and your CIC medical request ..

..
Good luck

Hi, I went to chinique Action Sante on Cote des Neiges. It was good I guess, since it is a private clinic, everyone there was for immigration. No one looked sick! There were three of us in my application, we were in and out and 4 hours.

I received the passports request on 12 January, I submitted them to the Ottawa visa office on 21 January.
do anyone knows when I expect them to be returned to my lawyer in Montreal?

Hi friends,

As we are in Montreal, once we get PPR for our QSW application, our plan is to do flag polling
(drive to the nearest border-post, cross the border, get 'denied' a US visit, turn-around and enter Canada to perform our landing).

Will you please tell us where is the nearest and more convenient border crossing from Montreal for that purpose?

Cheers

Lacolle Border Crossing. Take the 15 south and it will take you there within 45 mins.

My understanding is that you don't need to drive to border, just go to a customs office. There is one in downtown Montreal. I am doing my landing there. They are super nice.
