I am applying to one of Quebec programs and do intend to live there. However, my agent told me that many other applicants choose not to stay in Quebec. How about the forum members, do you intend to live in Quebec?

How does Quebec compare to other provinces, pros and cons?

I have a very biased opinion if you want to hear it. I HATED living in Quebec. I was a temp. resident and was treated badly. With no French language skills I felt like an unwelcome alien. Daily life was heavy dealing with shop keepers who knew no to little English, and who knew, were reluctant to use it. Tried to learn French and used it. Still you'll see these grim frown faces everywhere.
Because I was a temp resident, a student to be precise, I wasn't entitled to medicare, but had very expensive private insurance that had better coverage than medicare. Still I was treated like a fraudulent criminal at every clinic or hospital I went to. Always been asked why you don't have medicare, are you living here illegally?!! My wife became pregnant. Follow ups and delivery were a nightmare dealing with the hospital and doctors who assume that we want to take unrightful and untitled treatment without paying. They will asks us for down payments although the insurance covers 100% of everything.
The huge deal breaker that made me leave Quebec is that although I had CANADIAN kid, he wasn't entitled to medicare because I wasn't. Left for another province, got his medicare coverage instantly with no questions asked.
Again is a very biased point of view. Also employment taxes in Quebec is higher than others.

Thank you Doda. I am not sure yours are bias, they sound genuine to me.

You're welcome. It's genuine but biased towards showing the bad side.

Which province you are residing now, may I ask.

I had very positive experience during my 13 months stay in 2015 and 2016. I stayed in Pointe-Claire but did travel to Montreal at regular intervals. Most people were polite and customer-oriented. Most people were bi-lingual and spoke English as well as French fluently. Medical system was a bit pain and we visited Statcare for most of our medical needs. Taxes are high in Canada and Quebec is no exception.

Thanks APPNOV2014NY.

The opinions so far are quite polar. You love it or hate it. My agent was a bit surprised when I told him that I am planning to live in Quebec, when I got my case approved.

I hope to find time to visit Canada soon, Quebec, Ontario and probably the west coast.
