Hello all, Bonjour à tous,

I have never thought before, of going to Québec, but since chances are low that the federal stream is taking too long and there are still uncertainties, and I have improved my French in the last 2 years, now I ask myself if there would be a future for me in Québec (I hope there is).

So these are my recent TEF results:

Comprehension ecrite 239 (C1)
Comprehension orale 270 (B2)
Expression ecrite 270 (B1)
Expression orale 314 (B2)

English is my second language after my mother tongue, and I have been using it for almost 20 years in college and in professional life. Comparing it to my French, I know I have a long way ahead of me.

I am an engineer but I won't be looking for a job in my field necessarily. To me, it is about embracing new opportunities in a new environment, so I believe I could fill a post where being registrated as a professional is not compulsory.

What are your thoughts on a prospective immigrant like me? Should I be positive about Québec or not?

Thank you for your insights,
Merci par avance,

Router

Your profile looks pretty good and your French level is above average, I think your chances will depend on whether your occupation is on this list:

http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/publications/en/diverses/list-training.pdf

If your Area Of Training is not listed on that list, you are not able to apply until further notice.

Thanks for all the information I've learned from this thread. I'd like to contribute my little part by sharing my experience.

Got my CSQ in Atlanta. The interviewer looks serious, but he is actually a very friendly and nice guy. All the questions he asked are quite standard: why do you want to immigrate to Quebec? Your work experiences and your job prospects in Quebec? Your educational background? Any relatives and friends in Quebec? If you have learned some French and prepared well for these basic questions, it should be fine.

My timeline is as follows:
Application sent in May 2011
Acknowlegement by email from Quebec immigration in June 2011 (file opened)
...... (endless waiting)
Letter in May 2012 from Quebec immigration, requesting for more materials
Letter in August 2012 from Quebec immigration, notifying that I am on interview waiting list
Email in September 2012 from Quebec immigration that the interview will be one month later in New York (I had to request another interview date)
Email in October 2012 from Quebec immigration that the interview is rescheduled in December 2012 in Atlanta
... successfully got my CSQ in Atlanta

Hello friends, if you want to know what will be the Quebec skilled worker program like from 2013 onwards please take a look at this:

http://www.spl.gouv.qc.ca/fileadmin/medias/pdf/Charte/Revision_de_la_grille.pdf

It looks like having at least an "intermédiaire avancé" (B2) level will be required in order to get points for French, both applicant and spouse.

Harit79,

Let me see if I got the concept of "mission" right. Basically what it is, is more men coming to the "rescue" once a year, so my VO (Mexico city) has TWO missions for 2013, what would be the average QSW applications cleared on "missions" on that year?

If this ends up to be true, applicants will have a really, really hard time! a B2 level its exceptionally difficult to obtain. I have been studying intensive French (5 days per week) for the last 7 months and I have achieved a level of A2/B1

Sorry to say but i dont have any idea about that.
It is purely based on assumption, we cant say how many applicants will be called for an interview.
You get the basic idea from the calculation stated in above link.

Hello friends

I appeared for my DELF A2 exam a couple of days back in Mumbai. Here are the details what was asked in speaking:

First part was a general introduction about ourselves like name, age, martial status, name of spouse, place of stay, work, few likes and dislikes. The supervisior asked questions based on this. Very simple.

Second part was a monologue wherein I was asked to describe about my studies, name of school, location. Do you like your place of study? Why?

Third was I am new to Paris and searching for a room on rent for stay. I met an estate broker / agent and I need to describe him /her my choice, floor, location, rent in euro, nearby place of work / garden / beach / market etc.

Prepare well on various topics such as:
You favourite festival. Why?
Your favourite city. Why?
You need to book a ticket on a flight. How will you describe to the ticket agent. (Price, seat, class, dicount applicable)
You went to a super market or a bakery. Explain the seller what you need.

Hope this helps those who are preparing for DELF A2 exams

Hi,

I have applied two years ago(FAMILY) and first they reject my application because i only score 46 points and they did not give me any points for training and experience. i submitted some other documents which can give me easliy enough points to meet the minimum level of 63 points score without claiming any point for frenceh. yesterday I had an interview in France and it was all in english because we do not know anything about french language. the interviewer was very surprised that we cant understand french. he did not decide our case he said that we have very strong points in experience education and so on but also very negative point in french language. so he nedd to discuss our case with his senior and let us know later through letter.

my question is even if i achieve the 63 points can they reject our case on basis of language.

Thanks

@ Hello yogie/MkShah

I need your help...recently my friend received a rejection letter from Biq-Hongkong....and told him to submit some document within 60 days.

Biq rejected his file because he has not sufficient point as per them.
But i know his profile is very strong.
Please give me some possible suggestion so i can tell him to proceed again with file procedure.

They mentioned in the email that they were treated his file based on new rule.
Below is his profile;

Education:-He has dentist bachelor degree
English:- 7 band(Biq gives only 5 points)
French:- Delf B1(Biq gives only 6 points, because in B1 he scored less than 16)
UnMarried
Biq gives 0 points for AOT.....

Finally,Biq overall allocate only 42 points
Seniors Please reply...

This is indicating that you are rejected...if your profession is nurse then they will allow you to proceed without french :(
