For Citizenship Application question 14c.

I'm going to guess that the answer is yes, since when crossing by land, a NEXUS card by itself is enough on its own. Just wanted to get other people's opinions.

If I do list the NEXUS card, do you think I need an explanation letter that it is a NEXUS card and not a passport?

Thanks

If you are not a citizen of us or canada or mex. .you will still need a passport which should show your status.

I'm helping to fill out my wife's application. She is a US citizen. She has a US passport which she will list as her travel document but we are also thinking we need to list her NEXUS card

You should include the Nexus card as a travel document. Besides the point that it is a travel document (its primary purpose is to facilitate international travel and can be used as a sole travel document while travelling), IRCC's interest in the Nexus card is that it can be used to cross the Canadian border (their interest in travel documents being to verify that reported travel abroad matches CBSA's records).

I included Nexus as a travel document as it is a travel document. Lot's of debate on the matter but the bottom line - nothing bad happens when you're honest.

In your CBSA records, a different abbreviation is used when you use Nexus for entry. Also, I enter Canada without showing PR card or Passport. So yes, it's a travel document and I suggest declaring it if only for transparency.

Thanks. Did you do anything extra like attaching an explanation or simply just list it? Also what did you do for "place of issue"? My wife's NEXUS card does not mentioned the city like a passport does. We just put "U.S.A" since that is the issuing country.

The card stated the USA as the place of issue so that's what I listed. No explantation needed.
