Hi Staydoogged,
If your sputum smear test results got positive, you will advise to undergo medical treatment for 6 monyhs. Same thing with sputum culture test...If both sputum smear/culture came out negative, no more medical treatment and will advise yout to have repeat xray (after 3 months from your initial xray). If you have previous xray (I think more than 3 months old), no more repeat xray.

Hoping this will help you..

Thanks,

UPDATE
I just got back from the clinic.
my Sputum result came out negative.
I was referred to a chest specialist and he is not checking my Xrays atall and has asked me to go for CT Scan ad some blood tests.
It is annoying and so fee consuming.

I want to know if you can tell your panel physician to change a chest specialist because this one is too adamant saying that only a CT scan is 99percent accurate.

HELP

Hi Sir/Ma'am,
Anyone here under went "medical surveilllance" in Canada for 30days? Please share your experience...

Question:
Worst thing scenario, what if the "in active TB" became "active TB" during your medical surveillance in Canada, what will the health authority will do to you? will undergo treatment there? please need your answer....

Thanks,
Hi sir.

I am currently waiting fir my visa. Also about to go to winnipeg canada. Same situation with you, i did sputum culture for 9 weeks then came out negative.

My PPR arrived 4th July.
Submitted my passport 1st Aug.

You mentioned you have medical surveillance letter, but to ky understanding they only give it to those who underwent treatment. It scares me now that they may include it on my visa even if my medical results were clear and sputum is negative.

If you have your GCMS you can find it under medical section whether you have been refereed for medical surveillance or not

What is GCMS? May I ask if you have already received your visa? And did you have medical surveillance even if the result of your sputum is negative?

Thanks

GCMS = Global Case Management Service , it will provide snapshot of your file and can understand at what stage ur file is currently at in processing. It can be ordered from www.gcmsnow.com or www.visafile.info and it will take 30 days to receive it.

I haven't received my visa yet but I have past history of PTB so underwent furtherance (sputum smear/culture) the results are negative and I passed my Medicals but I could see I am reffered to medical surveillance in my GCMS

My hubby's sputum culture is done by August 12 and we did not receive any phone call from the clinic since the start.
What are the chances that the result is negative like the smear test?

He was asked to come back by September for the re-xray. What will happen then? What if they still see something from the xray?

Pls Were you asked to see a pulmonologist?the clinic said I may need to get pulmonologist consultation after repeat X-ray which actually did not happened because they are happy with my re-Ray, may be this is because I have provided my past x-Ray which I think it helped them to conclude that the scar is stable
Was it an external specialist or works in the PP clinic?the centre is having their own pulmonologist
What was the fnal report like? were you asked for CT scan?on the day of repeat X-ray they took my X-ray and told me everything is fine and I do not need any further consultation with pulmo. No they did not asked me for CT scan, may be this is because I have provided one which I have got it done once I was cur d in 2008

CT Scan conclusion results says.

Features are those of old granulomatous infection(probably kochs deases)

is there anything to worry about?
the Pulmonologist hasnt written his report yet.

Koch's Disease is nothing but Tuberculosis. But the Pulmo inferred that the scar or Granulomas ( mass of immune cells that form at the site of infection) is from old infection. so, my guess is he is reporting that there is no active tuberculosis. Better request for a copy of your medical report.

I can see you have nothing to worry about apparently.

cannot say the outcome of the test result before 8 weeks and no one can predict it. Its quite common you wont be contacted during that 8 week periods . They will announce the result on the day of re-xray but some clinics are kind enough and update you the results over phone.

All the best

Hi,

As i said earlier, i completed sputum and re-xray and got clear. Doctor said it is all ok. Exactly after a week, i got "Medicals has been received".

Does this mean my medicals cleared ? When can i expect my PPR? I have also applied for GCMS notes. Hopefully I get my PPR soon..

IMGNSPNP - Hi.. You have any inputs?

Your reply would be much appreciated.
