Hi everyone,
I am travelling to Toronto tomorrow. I am getting stressed as the document for POF. This is my first landing and I want to come back a week after. To prevent loss of money in exchange, can I show "Balance Certificate" along with "Bank Statement" from and Australian bank as POF?

I can take cash in Australian dollars but it is too risky for taking large amount of cash during travel.

I do really appreciate for your kind help.

Yes. Do ensure to carry your ATM/Debit card as well, since the purpose of this fund is for your living expense while you settle down in Canada. So the cash should be available immediately for your disposal.

he's probably in toronto already now...

Congrats to all with MR/RPRF and PPR.

Plz let me know:

1. Avg time taken by Abu Dhabi Embassy for visa upon submission.

2.Can we show partial proof of funds while landing for short period ( principal applicant and dependants) and inform immigration that remaining funds with be available or funds to follow or do we need to show entire amount at the same time?

3. Same query on POF, if only the principal applicant does landing, can we show proof of funds as funds to follow?

4. If we are able to get a job offer before landing, do we still need to show POF?

Thanks

Nope. The funds required by CIC should be available when the principal applicant at the time of entry(for self and dependents). With job offer, you wouldn't need to show POF, however its slightly more complicated : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/offer.asp

Hi Rathna,
StartRight is the account for immigrants.
Kotak bank is the representative in India for the same. See https://www.kotak.com/kotaknri/Scotia/India/Startright.html
Although I am not sure how from USA...

Hi,

My situation is the same as C-Smix, i am a british citizen going to canada in 1 week for permanent residence. I will stay 1 week and come back to UK for family and job reasons.
I have balance certificate from hsbc and barclays bank, bank statements in GBP with more fund than required for 3 family members - i will take my ATM/DEBIT card/

I am also taking 10K CAD traveller cheque.

Do you think is enough or should i take the complete 18,000$ or so for POF?

Thanks,
uiqbal

This should be good as long as the total liquid fund equals or greater than required POF.

Hello Seniors,

Is it a must to bring the funds advised by CIC on landing if even I am staying in canada just for couple of weeks.

Regards,

Captain

yes you have to bring the funds with you when landing.

The officer also needs to be assured that you will be in canada by the time your pr card arrives, so voluntarily sharing your plans for the short visit is not necessarily a good idea as he may choose not to process your pr card at this time.

I have visited Canada and come back in a week, nothing was required from my side on proof of funds, the officer just asked for me and my family COPR and told me to wait in waiting area, after 20 minutes called me and gave me my stamped COPR.

Thanks,
