I am a U.S. citizen coming up on my 5 year anniversary of living in Canada and I have decided to just apply for PR instead of renewing my work permit every 2 years. I have heard that when applying for PR, proof of funds are needed. I read that a single individual needs around $12-13 K. I don't have that much saved however my job which I have worked for in Canada for the past 5 years has a $90,000 a year salary (most of it is spent on repaying student loans, so saving takes a while). Is that an acceptable alternative. If I have a corporate sponsor and my company keeps taking care of me would that work?

if you are applying under CEC then the requirements doesn't know proof of funds as you are already working in Canada.
