Does anyone know how much fund we need to show for a visitors visa to Canada from the US? I can't seem to find the amount on their website. Thanks.

I don't think it is possible to state a particular amount. It depends on how long you are planning to stay and what you are planning to do during that time.

Are you coming for 2 weeks or 6 months? (You'll probably need much more to stay for 6 months.)
Are you staying in hotels? renting an apartment? staying with friends and relatives?
Are you eating most of your meals in restaurants or cooking yourself?
Will you be staying in Toronto or in a small town in northern BC? (I assume rent in Toronto would be much higher than in a small town in northern BC.)
Are you spending your days going to amusement parks? (Could be $80 a day for admission.)
What will you be doing with your time and how much will that cost?

Anyway, if you think about those kinds of questions, you'll see that required amounts can differ by a large degree from one person to the next. As far as I know, it's largely up to the judgement of the officer assessing your application if you have "enough."

Thanks for replying. I am going to a conference and everything is paid for except for food and entertainment. I wonder if they expect us to show a certain amount for that type of spending per day. I am there in Vancouver for four days.

If you are only going for 4 days and you have a flight back, it's unlikely you will be questioned extensively about sufficient funds.

There are really only 2 main issues regarding funds.

#1: Do you have enough money to pay for a trip of that length without resorting to working illegally? This is usually not a major concern for a short trip. It might be good to have a receipt for your conference, just in case.

#2: Do you have more than $10,000 in cash? That may not be allowed. They often ask about that at the port of entry.

1) OK, i can show them the receipt for the conference, invitation, hotel , flight etc. everything except money for spending in canada (for which i can show a bank statement).
2) no, i am taking a lot less, mostly spending using credit card.
