I can't really apply for a job if I don't know when I'll be back or if my other half will be approved. I am not going to buy property before that happens, and I'm not sure how I can actually prove I will be coming back. I have no ties there financially. I've heard people say they got a letter from someone saying they could live with them, etc. This is fine but would it really be enough to get a parent to write that kind of a letter? Are there any other ways to prove your intent to go back? I feel like just writing about England and taxes and costs of living and just saying "of COURSE I want to go back!!", but obviously I can't do that. Would an existing bank account, however inactive, be an asset to the application?

Thanks!

Not sure how much help this will be but I was very much in the same boat and here is what I provided:

- signed letter from my parents saying that my husband and I would be living with them on arrival while we get settled
- signed letters from my doctor and dentist saying that they will take my husband on at thier practice and are aware of our planned return
- evidence of my Canadian bank account and plans to put my husband on it as a joint account holder
- emails between me and a potential employer, with me indicating when I was planning on returning and discussing job possibilities
- evidence of my husband's resume posted on Canadian job websites

One tip that other people have said was to at least apply for jobs on job websites or have evidence of posting your resume on Canadian job sites or correspondance with potential employers/universities, etc - so they know that you are at least looking at things to do.

Good luck! :)
