CEC is now showing a processing time of 11 months... this is for applications finalized between Jan 1 - and Dec 31, 2010, I believe (based on the info in the FSW category). Since I applied last year, I've seen it go from 6 months, to 8 months, to 10 months, to 11 months... At least, it's still better than the FSW...

Anyday now jes. What is this thread going to do without you? :)

17 months for PNP?!?! yeesh... So much for having that in my back pocket...

I have a sneaking suspicion I'll be around for a while :)

Can any one plz help me in sharing their own experience.

My application for PR under refugee catagory has been accepted in principe. They have all my documents and now they are verifying the security background check in alberta where I live.

Something I've never quite been clear on...

So this is the new estimate of processing time for CEC after they've received a completed application. But I've never quite known if this means it'll take about 11 months from the date the complete application arrives at their office, or from the date they send you the AOR that tells you your application is complete?

I have feeling it's the latter, but since it took 5 months for me to get my AOR, I'm hoping that I'll have only about 6 months more of processing time rather than 11 (or whatever it will be by THAT time).

That's because it's not really an estimate of processing time - it is merely "most recently available" historical data on how long it took applications to be processed, among applications finalized last year. For applications included in the 11 months' processing time, most of those would have been submitted in 2009 (when AORs took 1-2 months), and obviously processing conditions are a bit different these days :)

As for your application, it could take 11 months, it could take more than 11 months, it could take less than 11 months :) I don't really think there's any way of predicting the future based on historical data, unless you know changes in processing and procedures, staffing, etc, and CIC doesn't really seem inclined to share that information.

Processing times are from date of receipt of application, to issuance of visa...
