Oh, I hadn't checked this since the start of our application...it has gone up by 1 month for London. Because it says 'average time' in months, I'm hoping it will be a lot faster. :D

Actually the processing times posted on CIC site for the visa offices, do NOT say "average" time anywhere. Those are times for 80% processing, which is definitely not reflective of true average times. Average times would be represented more by the 50% processing stat, which you can see by downloading CIC's opendata spreadsheet.

80% times on CIC site, are more worst-case times or the time reflective of the slowest 20% of applications. So an increase in 1 month of the posted times may not have any impact at all to the "average" application. In majority of cases, straightforward apps are processed quicker than the posted times on CIC site.

Oh yeah...I see that...ooops.

That’s annoying then, because when I have been looking at the actual webpage for the London VO, it says in massive letters 'These are only average processing times...'. Although looking again, it does refer back to the CIC site and from what you say my application may still be quicker. So its all good!

Thanks for the info/ correction.

All the time lines - are just an average, depending on the number of cases they have processed, over a certain period of time. It is not a true reflection for the VO office - Singapore for example shows 31 months, but I know members who have got there Visa in less than a year.

Again no, they are NOT an "average". They are worst case times.

i.e. if 100 apps were processed, where 75 apps took 6 months, 5 apps took 9 months, and 20 apps took 9 months or longer... then the "80% time" would simply be 9 months since that is the time to complete all 80% of apps.

That makes more sense - Thanks for the clarification Rob_TO
